Susan Brown-Shafii joined the WTI in October 2005 as Scientific Coordinator for the NCCR project.  From 2002 to 2005, she worked for a consultancy firm in Geneva run by a former International Labour Organization (ILO) Deputy Director General. Prior to that, she spent several years with the Geneva-based international organizations, completing trade-related projects for the ILO (2000–02), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (1998–99), the Secretariat for Inter-Governmental Consultations on Refugee, Asylum and Migration Policies (1994), and the GATT Secretariat (1993–94). During this period, she also completed a PhD in International Relations (IPE) at the London School of Economics.  She started her career in the private sector, working in the financial sector, and as a customs and trade consultant in New Zealand.  Her academic credentials equally include an MBA from Erasmus University in the Netherlands and a BA in Labor Relations and Economics from the University of Michigan.  She has recently published the book, Promoting Good Governance, Development and Accountability: Implementation and the WTO (2011). Based on the text of the 1994 Government Procurement Agreement and its 2006 Revisions, it was published with Palgrave Macmillan’s IPE series: http://www.palgrave.com/page/detail/?k=9780230545250

The book was recently reviewed in the Public Contract Law Journal.
