The World Trade Institute (WTI) is pleased to announce that it has been endowed with two important databases. PTAs on record since 1948 - Contains all preferential trade agreements (PTAs) on record since 1948, a total of some 570 agreements, of which 329 are now in force. Currently the most complete database of PTAs ever compiled – it is far more extensive than the PTA-list published by the WTO on its own website, or lists that have been compiled by academic scholars - this database was assembled by an individual in Geneva who prefers to remain anonymous.
Bilateral trade flows and FDI stocks - the Peterson Institute for International Economics has provided us with access to an extensive database of bilateral trade flows and FDI stocks compiled by Dean DeRosa. The data cover bilateral trade flows (SITC0 and SITC1) between approximately 170 countries over the thirty year period 1976-2005. It also contains FDI stock data for a number of countries, plus the variables typically entering gravity model analysis of PTAs.
The WTI has permission to use this data for its own research, and to make it available to external scholars.
Both databases are available in Stata format (.dta), and can be made available under the following conditions:
1. Permission to use the databases
