Susan Brown-Shafii joined the WTI in October 2005 as Scientific Coordinator for the NCCR project. From 2002 to 2005, she worked as a senior research consultant for a consultancy firm in Geneva (run by a former ILO Deputy Director General), specializing in global social issues. Prior to that, she spent several years with the Geneva-based international organizations, completing projects for the International Labor Organization (2000-02), the United Nation’s Conference on Trade and Development (1998-99), the Secretariat for Inter-Governmental Consultations on Refugee, Asylum and Migration Policies (1994), and the GATT Secretariat (1993-94). She started her career in the private sector, working in the financial sector, and as a customs and trade consultant in New Zealand. Susan has a PhD in International Relations (IPE) from the London School of Economics, an MBA from Erasmus University in the Netherlands, and a BA in Labor Relations and Economics from the University of Michigan.
